In the name of God, amen. I, William Montgomery, of the County of Madison and State of Ohio, being weak in the body, but of sound and perfect mind and memory, blessed be almighty God for sure, do make and publish this my last will and testament in manner and form following (that is to say) first of all, I commend my soul unto God who givest and my body to the earth to be buried in a decent and Christian-like manner and as to my worldly estate I give and dispose in the following manner:

I give to my eldest son David Mt. Gomery the sum of five dollars. I also give and bequeath unto my second son Humphrey’s two sons, Miles and David, the sum of one hundred dollars each. I also give and bequeath unto my youngest son Richard Mt. Gomery, the sum of one hundred dollars. I also give and bequeath unto my daughters Martha Lewis, Elizabeth Galloway, and Ginny Alexander, the sum on one hundred dollars each. I also give and bequeath unto my daughter Sarah Alexander the sum of five dollars.

I also will and bequeath all my land, together with the residue of my estate, of whatever nature unto my two sons William Mt. Gomery and Andrew Mt. Gomery to be equally divided betwixt them. I also appoint my two sons William and Andrew Mt. Gomery my executors of this my last will and testament. It is my desire that all my debts as well as the legacies be paid as soon as possible after my decease. I hereby revoke al former wills by me made. In witness whereof I have here unto set my hand and seal the eighth day of January in the year of our Lord on thousand eight hundred and sixteen.

Signed, sealed, published and declared by the above named William Mt. Gomery to be his last will and testament in the presence of us who have here unto subscribed our names as witnesses in the presence of the testator.
